Soil Classification & Map Interpretation


In this hands-on workshop, you will observe and measure soil properties, examine soil profiles and relate different soils to the environmental factors responsible for their formation. You will learn how to classify soils according to the Canadian System of Soil Classification, and have the opportunity to analyze selected landscapes to assess soil variability. You will apply this knowledge in the classroom by accessing and interpreting soil resource inventory information to pre-type and will head to the field for some ground truthing! Recommended to have taken Introduction to Soil Properties & Vegetation Management or have taken previous formal training in basic soil prior to attending this workshop.
