Introduction to QGIS (2 days)
QGIS is a new, free and open source software which provides more access to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology than ever before. The availability of this open source GIS and its powerful tools allows you to quickly implement a GIS and start experiencing the benefits of this technology. Olds College is offering two sessions designed to give you hands-on experience in the use of this software specifically tailored to your industry. This course will cover:
- Acquiring data for a GIS
- Digitizing GIS data
- Loading spatial data
- Styling and manipulating datasets
- Analysing data
- Making & Publishing Maps
NOTE: This course assumes that you are already familiar with GIS concepts and terminology covered in the "Introduction to GIS" course. This course applies those concepts directly to the QGIS software.
