Course Description

This online self-directed course is designed to introduce students to basic hardware and a variety of software applications at an introductory level. It is designed to help students develop basic skills in the areas of word processing (Word), file management, spreadsheet applications (Excel), computer security, Internet usage, and integrated software applications (Outlook). 

    • Understand the Windows operating system and manage files electronically.
    • Identify and use computer shortcuts to be more efficient and productive.
    • Use word processing software (Word) to create, edit and format documents. 
    • Use the internet and browser applications to search and navigate web-based information sources and applications. 
    • Use e-mail applications (Outlook) to send/receive and manage messages, edit email signature, and attach documents to email.
    • Recognize appropriate data security practices and information assurance (do's and don'ts).
